Islands in the Maldives You Can Reach by Speedboat

I’m sure you have seen all the pretty photos and videos of a seaplane flying over the sprinkling of coral islands in the Maldives, but there are plenty of people who would rather just see that view from a photo. The seaplanes that take you to your island are small, Twin Otters to be precise, they’re not for everyone.

Inspired by my sister’s bad experience with her claustrophobia on a seaplane, I thought I would comprise a list of different islands in the Maldives you can reach by speedboat.

Anantara Dhigu Island Resort

A beautiful typical Maldivian resort with an array of restaurant options and an incredible overwater spa, Anantara Dhigu Island Resort is just a 30 minute speedboat transfer from Male International Airport.

Surrounded by soft white sand, the fact you can reach Dhigu Island by speedboat is just one perk amongst many. Wake up to the sound of the Indian Ocean from your overwater villa before taking a glass kayak ride to snorkel island… yes, a whole private island dedicated to spotting tropical fish!
